Pumpkin Pie!

                                                    Making a Pumpkin Pie!

Since it is now fall, I decided to make a pumpkin pie. I tried using the Libby's Pumpkin Pie Mix.

For the pie crust, I used Kebbler's Ready Graham Pie Crust.

I am making two pies so I needed two pie crusts and two cans of the pumpkin pie mix. For one pie, you need to add 2/3 cup of evaporated milk and two eggs. Since I used two cans of pie mix,  I needed 4 eggs, and one 12 oz. can of evaporated milk. If you are making one pie, use a 5 oz. can of evaporated milk.

I preheated my oven to 425 degrees then I poured the two cans of pumpkin pie mix into a bowl, and added the eggs and milk.

I only had a smaller bowl that was clean so I had to mix it by hand, but if you have a larger bowl, you can use a mixer. So when I was done mixing it, the mixture looked like this.

Then I poured the pie mixture into the pie crusts. I put the pies into the oven for 15 minutes. Then, reduce the temperature to 350 degrees and bake at that temperature for 50-60 minutes or until a tester or knife comes out clean. Cool on a wire rack for 2 hours, then your pie is done!

Chocolate Donuts

With the two doughnut pans I received for Christmas for a relative, I made chocolate donuts using this recipe  here . The ingredients are flour, cocoa, baking soda, salt, melted butter, eggs, white sugar, brown sugar, buttermilk, or regular milk mixed with vinegar. The recipe she gives only makes about 6 doughnuts, so I had to double my recipe. First, preheat your oven to 350. Grease your doughnut pans. In a small bowl, mix together the flour, baking soda, cocoa, and salt. In a larger bowl, mix together the wet ingredients. Then, mix the wet and dry together. Then fill your pans with the batter. I tried using the piping bag technique, but I didn't use a piping tip and I cut the hole too big, so that didn't turn out well that time. But, if you don't cut your hole too big, the piping bag technique is probably the easiest to do. Bake them in the oven for 8-10 minutes.Let them cool in the pans for 2-3 minutes, then try to take them out. You want...

Triple Chip Cookies

Today I made triple chip cookies - white chocolate, dark chocolate and milk chocolate chips. First, preheat your oven to 375 F. The list of ingredients are: 2 1/4 cup flour 1 tsp. Baking soda 1 tsp. salt 1 cup softened butter 3/4 cup white sugar 3/4 cup Brown sugar 1 tsp. vanilla extract 2 large eggs 1 3/4 cup chocolate chips (or whole 11.5 oz. bag) In a small bowl, mix together the flour, baking soda and salt. In a larger bowl cream the butter, the two sugars, and the vanilla extract  together. Add the eggs, the stir the flour mixture in and add the chocolate chips. The dough gets slightly thick, do you may have to use your hands to finish mixing the dough. Form the cookie dough into small to medium sized balls. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for 10-15 minutes depending on your oven. Place onto a cooling rack to set and cool. Let them cool for 5 minutes or so. Then, enjoy! - The Junior Baker

Tank Cake

My brother requested a tank cake for his birthday, and this one is super easy to make! To start out, I used 2 boxes of cake mix. One of them was Duncan Hines butter golden, and the other was Dark chocolate fudge. I mixed up the boxes in separate bowls, and I dyed the butter golden cake green, and I added black food coloring to the chocolate to make it black. Then I poured my cake batter into a 13x9 inch cake pan, and a 8x8 inch cake pan. I alternated chocolate, yellow, chocolate, yellow, etc.. then marbled it together to make a sort of camouflage pattern. I baked the cakes in the other according to the back of the cake box, but I had to add a little more time, so I think I ended up cooking them for about 45 minutes. Once they were cooled and out of their pans, I prepared my cake board using a cookie sheet lined with tin foil. I would of used a normal cake board, but I didn't have any. Meanwhile, I took my icing, and dyed it green. To get the shade I wanted, ...
