Chocolate Chip Cookies

Today we are going to be making the classic chocolate chip cookie! Two things I always recommend before starting a recipe are measuring out all of the ingredients, and preheating your oven. Measuring out your ingredients makes it easier to make your recipe, and since the ingredients are pre-measured, you are not scrambling around measuring your ingredients while making a recipe. Preheating the oven is a good thing to do because baking is a science. Most recipes need to be baked immediately so that the right chemical reactions can happen. For instance, pancakes need to be cooked immediately. Cakes as well, should usually be baked immediately. So always make sure to preheat your oven beforehand. Another thing (which I really need to do as well) is taking out your butter making the dough a little before you make the cookies. M&M Cookies

M&M cookies are very colorful; and very delicious. These original cookies are delicious,  or you can make them even better by making them a chocolate M&M cookie. I am using the M&M mini milk chocolate baking chips. If you want the recipe for the chocolate M&M cookies, it is on the back of the package. The recipe for the regular kind is: 3/4 cup granulated sugar 3/4 cup packed brown sugar 1 cup stick butter, softened 1 large egg 2 1/4 cup all-purpose flour 1 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. salt 1 package (12 oz.) M&M's To start out I creamed my brown sugar, granulated sugar, egg, and butter together. I then added my a portion of my flour and my baking soda and salt. I mixed it well. Then I added the rest of my flour. Make sure to mix this very slowly!! If you don't you will have flour all over you! I then folded in the M&M's. Chocolate Rice Krispie Treats

If you thought that normal rice krispie treats were good, than chocolate are even better! All you need is some marshmallows, a little bit of butter, and of course, chocolate rice krispie cereal. The specific ingredients are: - 6 cups Chocolate Rice Krispie Cereal (and if you just want to make regular, use the original kind) - 3 tbsp. butter - 4 cups miniature marshmallows To start out, you'll want to microwave your marshmallows in the microwave. You really want to do this in 30 second intervals and give a little stir in between. One of the reasons why I do this is because the marshmallows may not look melted, but once you give them that stir, you'll see that they really are. Once your marshmallows come out of the microwave, give them another stir and then add them to your cereal immediately. Homemade Buttermilk Biscuits

Buttermilk biscuits are a delicious breakfast food. Especially with butter and jelly! To start out, you will need: - 1 cup butter, softened - 4 cups four - 2 tbsp. sugar - 4 tsp. baking powder - 1/4 tsp. baking soda - 2 tsp. salt - 1 1/2 cups buttermilk First, I preheated my oven to 450 degrees. Next, I put my 1 cup of butter and my flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt  into a medium to large bowl.  If you had a pastry blender, you can use that, but since I don't I just used my hand and mixed it all together until it looks like fine bread crumbs.  Next, add the buttermilk. Stir it all together until the dough leaves the side of the bowl (the dough will be sticky. I prepared my kneading surface by sprinkling flour on on my counter. Knead your dough lightly for about 10 times, or until your dough starts to actually look like a dough, (smooth and soft).  Roll out your dough to 1/2 inch thick. If ...

Triple Chip Cookies

Today I made triple chip cookies - white chocolate, dark chocolate and milk chocolate chips. First, preheat your oven to 375 F. The list of ingredients are: 2 1/4 cup flour 1 tsp. Baking soda 1 tsp. salt 1 cup softened butter 3/4 cup white sugar 3/4 cup Brown sugar 1 tsp. vanilla extract 2 large eggs 1 3/4 cup chocolate chips (or whole 11.5 oz. bag) In a small bowl, mix together the flour, baking soda and salt. In a larger bowl cream the butter, the two sugars, and the vanilla extract  together. Add the eggs, the stir the flour mixture in and add the chocolate chips. The dough gets slightly thick, do you may have to use your hands to finish mixing the dough. Form the cookie dough into small to medium sized balls. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for 10-15 minutes depending on your oven. Place onto a cooling rack to set and cool. Let them cool for 5 minutes or so. Then, enjoy! - The Junior Baker
